Hi, I’m Sharoya Ham. If there’s one thing people quickly learn about me, it’s that I play no favorites. I understand the overwhelmed parent trying to figure out what to do next, and I respect the educator navigating the realities of a demanding classroom. I’ve had the privilege of working with families and schools across five continents.
Parents often tell me I give them hope. Educators appreciate that I understand their side, too. My goal is to help both recognize that meaningful change often begins with a few small, manageable steps.
Bringing families closer and creating stronger partnerships between parents and schools is what drives my work.
In 2007, our family joined the U.S. diplomatic mission. We raised our three sons across seven countries.
My second son was identified with a learning disability while we were living in Zambia, East Africa. Despite my background in education, I was perplexed and had to learn a whole new language of advocacy. That experience changed the direction of my work and gave me a perspective I hadn’t learned in graduate school.
Today, I’m a behavior specialist, parent coach, author, and educator with more than 25 years of experience. I hold a Master’s in Special Education with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis, a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from Rutgers University. and Secondary Mathematics teaching licenses in New Jersey and Georgia (USA).
Help! My Kid Won’t Go to School! is the book I coauthored with Katie Fowle, and I’m incredibly proud that it’s now being used by families and schools in more than eight countries.
I believe so strongly in the work I do that I stand behind it with a guarantee. Let’s talk. There’s nothing to lose and so much to gain.
